Currency Moldova

The currency of Moldova is the Moldovan Leu, with one Leu equalling 100 Bani. Notes come in denominations of MDL500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5 and 1, with coins coming in denominations of 50, 25, 10, 5 and 1 Bani.

Money can be easily exchanged in official exchange bureaus and hotels. Traveller’s cheques are not accepted in the most part, though some banks may take them.

ATMs are very limited – there are only a handful in Chisinau. Credit and debit card acceptance is also very limited to just a few banks – Moldova is in the most part a cash-only economy.
